Georges MONIN, painter from PORT GRIMAUD :

Georges MONIN was one of the first owners of the Ile du Couchant. He opened a gallery on the Place des Artisans where he exhibited his watercolours of Port Grimaud. In 1991, his gallery closed for 2 years, his paintings were exhibited at the restaurant l'Atelier du Crabe.

His life :

Georges MONIN was born on 8 September 1925 in Papeete (Tahiti).
1945: Licencié ès Sciences.
1947: Graduate of the Institut des Sciences Politiques de Paris
1957: He founded SA Georges MONIN, Plasturgie et Esthétique Industrielle
1975: He sold his company and devoted himself exclusively to painting.
1975 - 1990: He will be the painter of the gallery Ombre et Lumière in Port Grimaud, drawing from this very beautiful environment, the blues and pinks of his palette.
1991: Returns to Paris but stays at the water's edge in Saint Maurice in the Ile aux Corbeaux.

          - From 1994 to his death, numerous exhibitions in Japan

passed away at the age of 83,
on 25 July 2009 in Bourguignon-les_Morey.
