The windows of Port Grimaud :François SPOERRY played on the openings, doors, windows, balconies, to vary the aspect of the facades and make each house, although often built on the same plan, different from its neighbours... Different types of windows :We find the same characteristics as for the doors : straight or rounded shape, surrounded or not by a white border. The shutters are made of wood or iron bent into an acordeon shape, sometimes with a wrought iron window sill. The windows vary in size and height. It is common to find 2 small windows together, separated by a wooden beam or a brick column. Sometimes the two windows are 'capped' along their entire length by another wooden beam. Again, they may be round or straight, framed in white or not. They can be attached to each other or separated. A window can be protected by pretty wrought iron bars, a nod to Andalusia. Sometimes a window is topped by a dormer window. French windows :French windows have the same characteristics as windows. They are sometimes accompanied by a small window or a window. French windows can be double doors. The top floor :The top floor of the fishermen's houses provides many variations on the facades. The balcony can be either a 'hard' one or a wooden one (the most beautiful ones) with sloping struts, of oriental inspiration. Overview :The openings are mixed together to give the whole a unity that seems to be more the result of chance and the constraints of life than the plans of an architect.
